Really great clay mask!
I had never heard of Nuna before being offered this Volcanic Ash Clay Mask, but let me tell you after trying it I would love to try more of their products! I would have loved to have followed this mask up with a NUNA serum and/or moisturizer. The thoughtful ingredients are combined with care, and the packaging is beautiful. I ordered this because I enjoy using a clay mask whenever my t-zone starts feeling like impurities have built up from experimenting with too many products. I am not prone to break outs except for my chin, so when it starts to look like a pimple is coming - it is clay mask time. This is different than others I use because it is a triple clay complex including Volcanic Ash, Clay, and Kaolin. It has many other stand out ingredients besides those that remove impurities. It is made with ingredients to insure it is not drying out your skin at the same time, a problem some clay masks cause. I mean deeply moisturizing ingredients and those that are soothing as well, like shea butter, squalene, calamine, pearl extract, trehalose (a plant sugar that mimics the skins natural moisturizing factor and works synergistically with hyaluronic acid - which is also in the mask, and centella asiatica. It goes on smooth and is easy to spread. I briefly worried there wasn't enough product in the (individualized) sachet as I was using it. I started squeezing some out and spreading it on my left cheek, the squeezing what I thought was most of it out and putting it on my right cheek, chin, and nose. I had it all over the lower part of my face, but worried I would not get enough out for my forehead. I squeezed the sachet again, and was surprised at how much came out. It was enough, exactly enough, maybe a bit more. The instructions are to wait 10-15 and to wash it off. I set a timer for 15 minutes and washed it off. I could feel it drying towards the end, but it wasn't getting painfully tight. When I washed it off, I was shocked by how soft my face felt while washing it off. I had a hard time getting some of it off, it really wanted to stay on my face. My face felt extremely clean after finally rinsing it all off. I had showered and washed with an oil before using it, I was clean to begin with. I am a big fan. I must admit I find the packages a bit annoying to use, to have to continuously squeeze from, but I definitely see the perks of putting it in 15 separate sachets. It is more hygienic to not be reaching fingers into a tub of clay mask each time. It is more portable and travel friendly. A box could be split up in some self-care packages for a group of people. That said, I am in the habit of reaching in grabbing a lot and slathering it on. I guess this could save money too by not over-using or taking too much out at once. I think the price is a fair value at $39.99. For 15 packets, that is $2.66 each. Depending on your skin -care budget and how frequently you will use them I think that is very reasonable. Another plus for single serve use, you are not held back by needing to use the item in 6MO or 12MO period after opening time. Ten Stars.

Gently Purifying
A very nice and easy to use volcanic ash clay mask that works well to purify the skin without overly extracting essential oils. It's a silky smooth gray clay that goes on easily and feels comfortable while wearing. As it dries, it won't crack or flake on you and get all over the place. It's neat and clean through the entire process. The clay is a lightweight one that needs only a somewhat thin layering over the face. Divided up into individual packets, all you need is already measured out for you. Plenty for each application without really any going to waste. If you feel like you need more, most likely, you are applying too much. You don't want to be able to see through your coating, but you need only just enough to lightly cover the skin. Feels comfortable while wearing without getting too tight, nor does it have any sort of a strong scent that one would have to put up with. When it comes time to rinse away, you will need a washcloth or a cosmetic sponge, and water of course, to rinse away. Easy to do so, but needs something like a cloth to fully rinse away. Once complete, your skin will feel extra soft and smooth as there are ingredients in this that help to provide the skin with some healthy moisturization without going overboard. What I particularly love about this clay mask is how it fully cleans the pores of dead skin cells, makeup, old excess oils and other debris. And it does so without damaging the integrity of the skin. Love that this clay also contains centella asiatica which is a substance that is excellent for those with more sensitive and problematic skin. Helps to clear and soothe any disruptions that might be of bother to one. Having mature combination skin, I need the extra conditioning, but I still need to tend to the more oily and problematic side of my complexion that I still have to be cautious with from time to time. Excellent for all skin types and is just as soothing and helpful for men as it is for women. Great for all adult age groups, from teens to seniors. Especially gentle and soothing for those with oily and problematic skin without clogging up the pores as it clears away the excess sebum and junk that needs to be removed. It purifies the skin and offers some mild moisturization to leave the skin healthy and balanced. Once done, continue on with your regular skincare regimen for a healthier, calmer and more balanced complexion.

Conveniently packaged, more hydrating take on the classic clay mask
I’ve tried several products from NUNA at this point, and I’ve generally been impressed with the brand’s approach to Korean skincare, so I was interested to try their Volcanic Ash Clay Mask. What makes this one a little different right from the start is the packaging: you get 15 individually portioned sachets rather than one large jar or tube. I actually really like this format. It’s convenient for travel, easy to store, and you can even separate them if you want to share some with someone else. The formula itself is what I found most interesting. This uses a combination of kaolin, volcanic ash, and bentonite, so you are getting the oil-absorbing benefits I expect from a clay mask, but it also includes ingredients that make the experience considerably more conditioning. Squalane and shea butter help keep the skin from feeling overly dry after rinsing, while glycerin and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid add hydration. There’s also pearl extract and madecassoside, a component of Centella asiatica, which give the formula more of a soothing, skin-conditioning element than you typically see in a straightforward clay mask. In other words, this isn’t really trying to be the most aggressive pore-clearing mask on the market; it’s more of a balance between clarifying and maintaining comfortable, hydrated skin. I have combination skin, with more oil through my T-zone and drier areas elsewhere, and I tend to use clay masks every week or two as a way of giving my skin a little reset. One thing I noticed with this particular mask is that it doesn’t pull as much visible excess sebum from my skin as some of the other clay masks I’ve used. If you’re someone who specifically likes that very obvious “I can see exactly where this mask pulled oil from my pores” effect, I would keep that in mind. For me, the result was more about leaving my skin feeling clean, soft, and comfortable rather than intensely clarified. The texture is also quite creamy and substantial. It spreads easily enough, although it is a little thicker than some clay masks I’ve used, so I found myself taking a little more time to work it evenly over the areas I wanted to treat. I leave it on for about 10–15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with water. As with most clay masks, you do need to rinse well because the product can hang on to the skin a bit, but once it’s completely removed, my skin feels noticeably soft and hydrated rather than tight or stripped. I also really appreciate the individual portions because you don’t necessarily have to use an entire sachet at once. Depending on how much product you apply and which areas of your face you’re treating, I can actually get two applications from one sachet. Since I don’t believe every part of my face needs the same treatment, I’m perfectly happy applying a clay mask primarily to my oilier areas rather than automatically covering my entire face every time. Overall, I think this is a nice option if you want the benefits of a clay mask without that overly dry, squeaky-clean feeling afterward. It isn’t the most aggressive pore-clearing clay mask I’ve used, but I think that is also part of the appeal. NUNA has created something that feels more balanced between absorbing excess oil and keeping the skin comfortable and conditioned. For me, the soft, hydrated finish and the convenient packaging are definite positives, and I’ll continue reaching for these when my skin needs a gentler reset.

Very soothing skin softening mud mask, the individual little packages are the perfect amount.
So skin pampering in my older age is just an absolute must. I grew up using the old standard green mud mask that would dry as my go to for when my skin was being oily. This looked like it might be a nice treat for my face. First it is so cutely presented. A nice sturdy sliding box with these 15 little packets. I thought the packet would be too little mask and that it may require 2 for an application, but I was definitely wrong. One of these little packets covers my entire face with a nice even layer of mask. It is a slightly thick grey slurry that is a nice smooth consistency to apply, and it absolutely without fragrance which I really like. After I put it on I noticed it actually had a bit of a cooling sensation, not minty, just very calming on my skin. It goes on wet and starts to really set after about 15 minutes. For removing it I like to use a warm wet wash cloth to wipe it off my skin, it's how I've always done these styles of mud masks. It just makes my skin feel fresher somehow. I will say the texture of my face after I removed it and let my skin dry was oh so soft. I have to say, for a treat for my face when it's oily or acting up... the little babies are awesome. The ingredients are way more nourishing than any other I've tried and my skin feels amazing. It's almost like a reset for tired skin. I'll probably be keeping some on hand. They are a bit pricey when broken down on the per mask price, but I think it's worth it and way better than any sheet mask I've tried.

Really great at clearing pores.
This mask feels great! It cleared up my pores and tightened my skin nicely, making my skin feel younger! Overall, I think this is a good-value mask that can really add a lot to my skincare routine. I'm super glad to use it as the entry into my other products.
